A small group of dedicated Bengalureans intent to save the natural heritage of this city before it is too late. Working alone we were not making too much progress. Vrikshamitra is our way to present a united front that will allow us to advocate for our concerns without jeopardizing our own safety. This makes us more likely to be recognized by the police, the judiciary, and, eventually, the political authorities. It also helps us to begin larger initiatives and request donors for support in completing them.
Any environmental project is doomed to fail if initiated without proper planning and not maintained adequately. Our objective is to find solutions that can become self-sustainable or need the least in terms of long term maintenance.
Our first urban forest in Kachanayakanahalli. A 4000 tree haven for insects, birds and all human visitors that would like to connect with Mother Earth.
Water hyacinth, a noxious menace covering the lakes of Bengaluru is something we are all forced to live with. Complaining about the problem is not solving any problems. If we see the water hyacinth as a blessing in disguise, we can not only use it to keep our lakes clean but provide valuable fuel and compost.
