VrikshaMitra is a grassroots non-profit committed to restoring India’s green cover, one tree at a time. Founded in 2018, we work alongside local communities, schools, and corporate partners to plant native trees, revive degraded lands, and spread environmental awareness.
Our name, meaning “Friend of Trees” in Sanskrit, reflects our deep belief that every individual can become a guardian of nature.
Our MISSION
We intend to use water hyacinth, destroying the lakes of the city for its bio-remediation capabilities. And in doing so, create useful products and provide employment.

A few examples of what can be done with this waste material are creating compost. biogas, biochar, water hyacinth paper and paper based products, and eco-friendly packaging.
