2018 – Seed of an Idea
A small group of passionate volunteers came
together with a shared mission to fight
deforestation and promote communitydriven
tree plantation across Maharashtra.
2019 – First Public Plantation Drive
Founded in 2018 by a group of eco-conscious
individuals, our mission is to promote
environmental awareness, ecological balance,
and long-term climate resilience by connecting
citizens, schools, RWAs, and local authorities.
2020 – Official NGO Registration & Expansion
Vrikshamitra was formally registered as an
NGO. Conducted 7 plantation campaigns in
Pune and nearby regions. Collaborated with 2
schools for awareness workshops.
2021 – School Awareness & Eco Clubs
Launched the “Green Schools Initiative” and
formed eco clubs in 10+ schools to promote
environmental education. Over 1,200 students
participated.
2022 – 10,000+ Trees Across 3 Districts
Achieved a major milestone by planting
10,000+ native trees in Pune, Satara, and
Nashik districts under the “Harit Maharashtra”
program.
2023 – Smart Forests Initiative
Introduced IoT-based monitoring through the
“Smart Forests” project at Baner Hill, Pune.
Focused on survival rate, moisture control &
community involvement.
2024 – Local Governance Partnership
Signed MoUs with 5 gram panchayats and 3
municipal councils to maintain green belts
and rejuvenate water bodies. Partnered with
15 eco clubs..
2025 – Eco-Education Centers Setup
established 3 Eco-Education Community
Centers in rural Maharashtra offering handson
environmental workshops, tree nurseries,
and native plant conservation.
